Finish The Mission – John Piper – A Book Review

22 Dec

I recently read Finish The Mission edited by John Piper & David Mathis.  This book came from the 2011 Desiring God national conference held in September 2011.  The theme of the conference was global missions and finishing the task of taking the Name and Glory of God to all of the world.

I was greatly moved by all of the contributors to this work but especially the chapters by from Michael Oh and Ed Stetzer.  As I read through the material from Oh I was moved to consider whether all of my life is about the Gospel and about living for Christ.  As I read Stetzer’s contribution I was reminded again that being sent or called to missions is not really an option for believers.  We are called and sent to take the truth of Christ the only question is where we are called and sent to do that.  It may be across the world or it may be to our neighbor or coworker.

I want to encourage you to read this book.  I think it will challenge you and spur you towards living your life on purpose for the Gospel.

I received this book in from the publisher, Crossway, for the purpose of review with no requirement to write a positive review.
