Dangerous Calling – Paul Tripp
Over a year ago I first heard Paul Tripp speak on this subject of the dangers of pastoral ministry over a year and a half ago. That opportunity was at the pre-conference session at a conference I was attending and this just so happened to be a period of time when life and ministry were proving very tough and I was more or less failing miserably in multiple areas. Everything Tripp said resonated deeply with my soul and led to some late night tear soaked journaling in my hotel room during the conference. So when I was asked by a publicist of Crossway to review this book I immediately said yes.
I am glad I took that opportunity and read this important book. I know firsthand that ministry is tough. I have received more wounds from people in the church than in any other arena of life. I wish I had read this book a decade ago and had heeded all it said then. I think I could have saved myself a lot of pain. I hope this book can do that for you. In this book Paul Tripp explores some issues that every minister faces and challenges we all go through. He does so with a Biblical perspective and in a way that is life giving and Gospel saturated. I urge you to read this book. If you are a minister read it. If you want to go into the ministry, read it. If you know someone in the ministry buy it for them. Read this book!
I received and advanced copy of this book in ebook form from the publisher, Crrossway, for the purpose of review with no requirement to write a positive analysis.
